Government social campaign reminds public that civil servants are #hereforyou

Cabinet Office spearheads efforts to highlight work of officials in responding to coronavirus

The Cabinet Office has launched a social media campaign that will highlight the work of civil servants from across all of government who are supporting the UK’s efforts to tackle the coronavirus.

The #hereforyou campaign was launched on Monday on the civil service’s official Twitter account, and since then a number of government departments and agencies have shared stories of the work of civil servants, across departments and around the world, in the efforts to tackle Covid-19. The campaign is intended to inform the public about the work of the civil service amid the crisis and recognise officials’ efforts.

Alex Chisholm, the Cabinet Office permanent secretary, told PublicTechnology sister publication Civil Service World: “Whether directly or indirectly, the civil service and all those within it are making significant and valuable contributions towards the country’s efforts to manage Covid-19.”

Many of the tweets (see examples below) related to initiatives to deliver services online or make better use of data.
