HM Revenue and Customs is yet to identify a new chief digital and information officer to replace Jacky Wright, who concluded her two-year stint with the tax agency on Friday.
Wright worked for HMRC on a “loan arrangement” from Microsoft, where she previously worked in a senior executive role in the US. It was announced last month that Wright, a native Londoner, will not be staying in government beyond her initially agreed two-year term.

Friday 11 October marked her last day at HMRC, and she will presently be rejoining Microsoft as chief digital officer of its US business.
When Wright’s departure was confirmed, the tax authority said that it would “announce succession plans” before she left.
A new CDIO has not yet been chosen but, in a statement issued to PublicTechnology, a departmental spokesperson said that Wright’s duties are being covered, for the time being, by existing HMRC staff. Details of a permanent appointment will be revealed in due course.
“Following Jacky Wright’s planned departure, we will be covering the position of chief digital and information officer internally in the very short-term,” the spokesperson said. “We will make an announcement once a replacement has been found.”
