Public Health England offers £118k for ICT leader

Executive agency recruits for leader to spearhead tech operations

Public Health England is offering an annual salary of almost £120,000 in its bid to recruit a head of ICT.

The organisation, which is an executive agency of the Department of Health and Social Care, is seeking a senior manager to “lead and develop a team of IT and communication professionals”. The chosen applicant will also be expected to “develop, own and maintain [an] ICT strategy for PHE that creates an inspiring, compelling, forward looking and customer-centric vision”.

The role also comes with a duty to oversee all capital and revenue spending on technology and related procurement discussions, as well as leading the rollout of all IT-related projects.

Current ongoing programmes of work include an organisation-wide deployment of Office 365, as well as a project to “move towards a zero-touch provisioning model for ICT services” by automating processes. The agency’s IT function is also working with its procurement team to “to consolidate and optimise third-party contracts to deliver the best value for money for ICT services”.

The head of ICT position comes with a salary of between £68,000 and £117,800. The successful candidate can choose to operate from any one of PHE’s nine offices across the country.

Under sponsorship from DHSC, Public Health England’s remit is “to protect and improve the nation’s health and wellbeing, and reduce health inequalities”.
