Suppliers picked for major Yorkshire and North East police IT framework

Four resellers chosen for potential £40m deal to provide all hardware and software

Four suppliers have been chosen for a two-year framework to serve the commodity IT needs of seven police forces across Yorkshire and the North East.

The Yorkshire and Humber Police Procurement organisation has awarded all four lots of the contract, which covers devices, infrastructure hardware, and off-the-shelf software. The deal is estimated to be worth a cumulative total of between £12m and £40m to the four tech resellers that have awarded a spot: Insight; Softcat; Computacenter; and Phoenix Software.

The first lot, which comes with a projected value of £6m, covers “end-user devices, peripherals, and assorted consumables”. Insight and Computacenter have been chosen for this lot.

Computacenter again features on lot two – this time alongside Softcat – which is dedicated to servers and storage. This segment is also worth an estimated £6m.

The worth of the third lot, which addresses network infrastructure, is pegged at £5m. Softcat and Insight are the chosen suppliers.

Phoenix Software joins Insight on lot four, which covers commodity software. This section is likely to be worth £2m.

The first lot attracted 13 bidders, while 12 companies bid for a spot on each of lots two and three, with 11 suppliers contesting the fourth lot.

The framework, which runs for a two-year period that begun on 16 September, is open for use by the four forces that respectively serve North, South, and West Yorkshire and Humberside. It is also open to Durham, Cleveland, and Northumbria Police.
