Council looks for supplier that can identify potential automation opportunities 

Oxford City Council is to invest up to £200,000 in robotic process automation (RPA) technology.

The authority has issued a contract notice seeking a supplier to provide an RPA platform that can offer “multiple automation run options [including] unattended, attended, [and] scheduled”. The technology must work in Windows 10, the council said, and needs to deliver reporting and analytics capabilities, as well as “ensuring data security and audit compliance”.

The chosen supplier will be expected to deliver “implementation of an RPA platform with an easy-to-use process definition and mapping function to record [and] configure the process automation in a non-invasive manner”. The winning bidder will also provide “orchestration of the RPA and automated processes including monitoring and load balancing”.

Oxford wants to work with a firm that can provide the necessary training for council staff on the operation and support of the robotics technology. The supplier will also be expected to “work with the council to identify processes that could produce savings through the use of RPA and deliver a programme to implement them”.

The authority expects to award a four-year contract, worth an estimated £200,000 and due to commence on 8 February. Bids are open until 27 December.
