Local authority needs new platform in light of ‘more types of complaints’

Bristol City Council is looking to spend £500,000 on the construction of a case-management system new system for complaints, feedback, and freedom of information requests.
The authority said that it needs to build a new platform in light of “more types of complaints and enquiries needing to be captured”. The tool will also handle enquiries for councillors, and requests from citizens to access personal data held by the council.
The council has decided that the best option is to build a new system from scratch, rather than develop existing tools.

“Bristol City Council have appraised and determined that the most efficient option is to scope a new service from the ground up, to not only support their current requirements, but deliver a resultant future-proofed contract able to cater for changes to technology whilst ensuring future releases and developments can seamlessly interoperate with other relevant Bristol City Council IT systems.”
The authority has issued a contract notice, seeking bidders for a three-year deal worth an estimated £500,000 and due to commence on 1 May 2019. Bidding is open until 8 October.
