Contracts awarded to support Digital Identity Programme have topped £33m this year
The Government Digital Service (GDS) has awarded two contracts as part of its Digital Identity Programme, usually known as One Login, covering services for identity fraud checks worth up to £9.1m and email and phone validation up to £1.9m.
Both contracts, call-offs from the G-Cloud 12 framework agreement, were awarded to Experian. They closed on 16 March and started on 21 July, running for two years with options for one year extensions. Both were published on 6 September with most details redacted.
They follow three multi-million pound contracts earlier this year. In July, GDS published two identity verification software contracts, both awarded to iProov on 27 June for two years. The first for official document checking through mobile apps is worth up to £11.59m and the second for biometric checks is worth up to £5.87m.
GDS has signed more than £33m in contracts for the programme so far this year. In January, it awarded Deloitte a £4.8m two-year contract to help deliver mobile apps that will support a common digital identity check that can be used across government.
It is now working with departments to test the One Login service, which will also include a browser-based option and aims to replace dozens of identity services across government over the next few years.
