Tax agency publishes prior information notice

HM Revenue and Customs is seeking market feedback ahead of launching a £4.5m procurement exercise it hopes will improve its access to and use of business data.
The tax agency has published a prior information notice seeking to engage potential providers of “database systems”. Interested suppliers are invited to complete a request for information questionnaire covering various technical and commercial details.
The goal is to find a supplier that can help HMRC obtain and make use of financial accounts and other business data.

The department said: “HMRC requires access to UK and worldwide company data and ownership linkages, financials, branches, subsidiaries [and other information] as part of day-to-day business activity, with essential functionality to link searches across databases hosted on the supplier’s IT system. HMRC will consider alternative innovative methods of delivery of this data and search functionality.”
Once it launches a full procurement exercise early next year, HMRC intends to award a three-year contract worth an estimated £4.5m. The engagement is scheduled to commence on 1 April.
The RFI is open for responses until 17 December.
