Organisation commissions study into available technologies

The National Archives (TNA) has commissioned a review to assess all the available artificial intelligence technologies on the market.

The organisation wishes to explore tools that could help assess “born-digital records”. It has commissioned Smartlytics Consultancy to conduct a “whole-of-market” review.

Having undertaken its assessments, the Coventry-based firm will be asked to provide the National Archives with a written report “including a recommendation to test between two and four tools”. 

“TNA will… use them to understand the content of records to provide more context for researchers,” it said.

Smartlytics has been a £23,000 contract and will start work on 25 September. It has set a finish date of 5 November.
