Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a digital leader to help create and deliver a five-year transformation vision.

The authority is recruiting for a corporate lead for digital and ICT. The role, which reports into the council’s director of public services, comes with a salary of between £54,000 and £57,000.

Calderdale is currently “developing a new vision for 2024” – a year which marks the 50th anniversary of the council’s formation. The new technology chief will be tasked with defining the role that ICT and digital platforms should play in that vision.

“You will drive forward digital leadership throughout the council, find innovative digital solutions to manage service demand, bring a commercial approach to procurement, and shape collaboration across public services,” the job advert said.

The chosen candidate will also be tasked with driving the use of agile working methods, and fostering partnerships with local businesses and other external parties.

The authority is seeking to hire someone who has worked in a role setting strategy for a “large, complex organisation”.

Applications are open until 29 July, with assessments scheduled for 13 August, and interviews to take place on 17 August.

Located in West Yorkshire, Calderdale is a largely rural borough. But three-quarters of its 200,000-plus population live in urban areas, with towns including Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge, and Halifax.

Residents who want to contribute to the 2024 vision can add comments to a forum hosted on the council’s website.
