Authority issues call for bids via manufacturer lot on Technology Products 2 framework
Luton Council is investing in hybrid laptops as part of a £300,000 refresh of its end-user-computing devices.
The council has issued a contract notice outlining its desire to acquire between 400 and 600 new machines over the next two years, with up to 200 of these required imminently.
“Luton Council is seeking to refresh its end user IT devices,” the council said. “The aim of this exercise is to improve the devices currently on the council estate and to provide technology that is fit for purpose.”
The authority has decided that hybrid laptop devices – which can function as either a tablet or a traditional laptop – offer an adaptable and attractive option.

“One of the end-user devices that the council have decided to purchase is hybrid devices, due to their flexibility, functionality and ease of use,” it said.
The tender process is being run as a mini-competition via Lot 5 of the Crown Commercial Service’s Technology Products 2 framework. This lot is reserved for the bulk supply of PCs direct from manufacturers, and contains eight firms: Centerprise; Dell; Fujitsu; HP; Lenovo; Novatech; Stone Computers; and XMA.
Any interested parties among this octet have until 24 January to submit their bids, with a four-year contract scheduled to commence on 12 February. The council has estimated the worth of the deal at between £280,000 and £320,000.
