New public body seeks chief people officer with experience of using data and digital to support reform
The Department of Health and Social Care is offering up to £130,000 for an HR leader who can use tech and data to help support the transformation of the government’s new health agency.
The chief people officer for the UK Health Security Agency will be expected to help “foster a culture where individuals of all backgrounds feel confident in bringing their whole selves to work, feel included and their talents are nurtured, empowering them to contribute fully to our purpose” among UKHSA’s 11,500-strong workforce, the job advert for the role said.
“As the chief people officer, you will have a total commitment to promoting equity in recruitment and management and in the delivery of health protection and health outcomes, nurturing a culturally and socially diverse workforce,” it added.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate a “depth and breadth of experience in building, leading, and transforming organisations through people, culture, technology and data” and to “live and breathe the ambition for change and transformation”.
In an open letter accompanying the job advert, UKHSA chief executive Jenny Harries said the successful candidate would have the “hugely important” task of bringing together two organisations and create a new one “that will be a global exemplar of health protection and security”.
UKHSA was formed in spring and combines parts of the now-defunct Public Health England with NHS Test and Trace, which includes the Joint Biosecurity Centre.

The job ad describes the role as a “rare and exciting opportunity to help create a global exemplar of health protection and security, providing future preparedness against all diseases and health hazards”.
The headhunting firm Green Park, which describes itself as “a company with a reputation for delivering results and customer satisfaction through collaborative and high-quality solutions”, is running the recruitment process.
Applications for the role, which comes with a salary of between £110,000 and £130,000, close on 8 October.
