Telco appointed to five-year contract

Buckinghamshire Council has appointed BT to a long-term contract to deliver a network for use by public-sector entities across the county.
The authority signed a deal with the telco that came into effect on Christmas Eve and lasts for five years – plus two potential one-year extensions. The company won the contract through a competitive process undertaken via the £5bn Network Services 2 framework.

The council said: “This tender was for a single network to provide network services – including LAN, WAN, [and] WiFi – in the first instance to Buckinghamshire Council, the Buckinghamshire NHS Trust and the Buckinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group, including all GP surgeries.”
The deal is worth £17.6m. It was awarded on 5 August.
Buckinghamshire Council has existed for less than a year, having come into being at the start of the 2020/21 year. The organisation operates as a unitary authority, having replaced the county council, as well as district councils in Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern, South Bucks, and Wycombe.
