Storage vendor Iron Mountain scoops five-year deal

The Department of Health and Social Care has signed a five-year deal for “records management services” with vendor Iron Mountain.
The deal will be worth £2.85m a year to the US-based company. Newly published procurement information reveals that the contract came into effect on 14 October and will run for an initial term of five years.
The agreement provides for two optional one-year extensions, which would take the end date to October 2027.

Very little information is provided on the specifics of the engagement, other than that Iron Mountain has been tasked with “the provision of Records Management Services for the DHSC Departmental Records Office”.
The contract was awarded via lot 4 of the Multifunctional Devices, Managed Print and Content Services and Records and Information Management framework that was introduced in 2016 and runs until next year.
On that lot, which addresses, records information management services, Iron Mountain competes against three other firms: Banner Group; Genmed.ME; and Restore.
Founded back in 1951 offering underground, nuclear attack-proof vaults, the Boston-based firm has grown into a $4.3bn-revenue cloud and IT giant.
