HM Revenue and Customs has awarded two contracts worth a cumulative £3.5m to support the migration of its case-management systems to a cloud environment.
As part of its ongoing Securing Our Technical Future department-wide cloud-migration programme, HMRC is to move its case-management platforms into an Amazon Web Services hosted environment.
It has appointed two suppliers to deliver the “infrastructure and technology upgrade” needed to do so.

In addition to moving the relevant applications into an AWS cloud environment, the two firms – Yash Technologies and Incessant Technologies – will also be tasked with “re-platforming onto [the] latest versions of supported underlying software” including Documentum document-management software, and customer-relationship management program Pega.
“This work requires specific skills and, in particular, cloud hosting and niche technology capabilities,” HMRC said.
Yash Technologies was appointed to a £1.2m contract running from 10 February until 30 January 2021. The company, which is headquartered in the US and runs a network of outsourcing centres across India, will deliver services to HMRC’s Bristol office.
Incessant Technologies has been awarded a £2.3m deal which began on 24 February and ends on 31 December. The business process management firm – owned by NIIT, another Indian outsourcing specialist – will work primarily at HMRC’s office in Telford.
HMRC chief executive Jim Harra recently published an assessment summary of Securing Our Technical Future which found the programme is on track to deliver cost and performance targets within the intended timeframe.
