Oxfordshire seeks £100k digital leader

Tech chief sought for district and county authorities’ partnership

Oxfordshire County Council is offering a salary in excess of £100,000 in its bid to recruit a senior manager to spearhead digital, IT, and transformation initiatives. 

The role as director of digital and customers covers both the county council and Cherwell District Council, with which Oxfordshire has worked in partnership for the last year, under the direction of a joint chief executive.

The post comes with a remit to oversee IT, digital services and strategy, and technology-led transformation programmes. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the councils’ contact centres, and its overall customer service strategy.

“The postholder will be expected to lead these functions as part of an integrated team working to support Oxfordshire County and Cherwell District Councils, they will be expected to act as a senior advisor to members and the leadership team,” the job specification said. “Further responsibilities will include rotational ‘on call’ support for emergency planning purposes with a specific focus on ensuring out of hours support in the event of business continuity or emergency events.”

The role comes with oversight of an annual revenue budget of £15m, as well as managing a “significant capital programme” of investment.

The chosen applicant will receive a yearly salary of between £96,266 and £106,263. Applications are open until 18 November.
