Beverley Bryant, the former director of digital transformation at NHS Digital, is returning to the public sector as chief digital information officer at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts.

Bryant joined System C & Graphnet Care Alliance as chief operating officer in August 2017, and leaves the organisation with joint chief executive Markus Bolton paying tribute to her hard work and accomplishments.

“Beverley has made a fantastic contribution to us at System C over the last few years and we are very sad to see her go,” said Markus Bolton.

“However, we have always known that Beverley is NHS through and through and that we only had her on loan. Her new role is a great opportunity for her at the sharp-end of transformation and we have no doubt that she will go on to make a big difference there too,” he added.

Bryant’s previous role at NHS Digital was between June 2016 and July 2017, and involved the internal transformation of the organisation. She was responsible for building an effective client engagement, digital future and business change function within NHS Digital. Prior to that, she was director of digital technology at NHS England for over three years.

Her new role will see her take up a board position at two NHS trusts.

“I have always believed that delivering patient-centred care through information and technology will complement and enhance the already excellent care provided by clinical teams,” Bryant said.

“This joint role at two of the leading trusts in the UK presents an exciting opportunity to make this ambition a reality and transform our relationship with patients,” she added.

Bryant will be responsible for developing and delivering the digital strategy for both trusts, while also being accountable for the cyber security part of the organisation, managing information risks and ensuring the trusts have effective information governance systems.

“Beverley’s broad and extensive experience at the intersection between healthcare and technology will enable King’s to develop and deliver a digital strategy that will support and enhance our long term plans and benefit both our patients and our staff,” said chief executive of King’s Dr Clive Kay.

Bryant will report to Kay and Ian Abbs, chief executive of Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

She will join both trusts on Monday 30 September 2019.
