Borough council of West Sussex town offers £70k for top digital job

Crawley Borough Council is seeking a digital leader to head a programme of transformation.

The council is advertising for a position as head of digital and transformation, a role that comes with a salary of up to £70,709. The successful candidate will form part of the authority’s senior management team. They will represent the council’s most senior digital leader, overseeing six managers and many technology and services professionals below that.

The key responsibilities of the post include ensuring that Crawley stays “at the forefront of technological developments that drive service improvement and efficiency”. The digital and chief will also be expected to lead a range of transformation projects, and “actively promote a collaborative approach across the organisation focused on achieving corporate priorities and seeking out opportunities for service integration and joined-up working”.

Candidates must have “significant project-management experience”, working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. They must also possess “knowledge of the issues facing local government and their impact on service delivery”, as well as strong commercial skills.

The council said: “Your strategic leadership and organisational effectiveness will lead by example, providing visible inspiring leadership and you will have an understanding of change management, commercial approaches, and a track record of driving through cultural change and innovation.”

The closing date for applications is Monday 19 March. First-stage interviews will take place on 28 March, with final interviews scheduled for 16 or 17 April.

The town of Crawley is located in West Sussex, and is inhabited by more than 100,000 people.
