New digital chief will help council create and deliver online citizen services

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council has created a role as head of digital services and is looking to recruit someone to help “drive a digital-first approach – both internally and externally”.
The post comes with a salary of between £61,468 and £65,770, plus a potential sum of up to £8,000 allocated for relocation expenses. Applications are open until 22 March.
The South Yorkshire town is looking to hire someone with “experience of leading a major IT or digital service successfully [who] will have managed budgets in a comparable organisation, evaluating priorities within tight financial limits”.

The council added: “This is a new role leading and managing the support, delivery, and development of council digital and IT services, and driving digital collaboration across partner agencies. Leading a range of specialist professionals, you’ll develop a customer-focused service, which is responsive, flexible to customer needs, and delivered to high standards.”
The authority claimed that Rotherham is the “fastest-growing city economy in Yorkshire”, adding that the area will soon benefit from a regeneration of the town centre and the addition of 1,000 new homes. More than 250,000 people live in the metropolitan borough area, and the council claims that its website generated more than 1.4 million page views in February.
