Institution invites suppliers to help manage process of warehousing, archiving, and deleting data

De Montfort University is looking for suppliers to undertake a six-figure data-archiving project to help it get on top of legacy systems and information stored on its network.
The Leicester-based institution is currently in the midst of a project to deploy various SAP technologies, including finance, HR, and business-intelligence software.
“As these modules roll out, more and more legacy systems will be left sitting on the production environment,” the university said. “There are no established processes, infrastructure, or tools in place for removing data from the production network.”

At present, De Montfort said it has no procedures or technologies in place for warehousing data that is still of use, archiving data that needs to be kept for legal or regulatory purposes, or deleting data and applications that are no longer needed for any reason.
Ergo the university “wishes to establish a single-provider contract for the provision of a data-archiving solution”.
Potential suppliers have until 4 April to submit their bids, with a contract scheduled to kick off on 4 June and last for three years. The estimated worth of the deal is £670,000.
