Prior to a planned merger, two neighbouring local authorities in Suffolk are seeking a single software platform that will allow them to manage election processes and handle voter registration once they become one entity.

Waveney District Council and Suffolk Coastal Council District Council – which are currently working towards a planned merger to become a single, united district council – have issued a contract notice looking for a commercial provider that can supply “a single elections-management and electoral-registration system” that can be used once two authorities become one.

According to a recently published contract notice, potential suppliers have until 26 January to express their interest, ahead of a scheduled start date for the contract of 19 March 2018. The deal is scheduled to run for four years, and will be worth between £100,000 and £500,000, the councils have estimated.
