Tender launched for mass supply of physical storage media

The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is looking to find a supplier for a three-year £5m deal to provide blank CDs and DVDs and associated replication services.

The organisation – an executive agency of the Ministry of Defence – is looking to appoint one or more suppliers for a contract due to take effect early next year. The deal, which will run for an initial three-year term, with an optional 12-month extension, covers the “supply of CD [and] DVD duplication or replication services, and blank CD [and] DVD storage media”.

The contract’s estimated value is £4m, plus VAT. Potential bidders have until 25 October to file a request to participate, and the tendering process will run for at least three months thereafter.

UKHO is responsible for collecting hydrographic and geospatial data and providing it to the Navy, as well as to merchant vessels. The agency also works with overseas counterparts to “set and raise global standards of hydrography, cartography, and navigation”.

The MoD-sponsored organisation employs about 1,000 people and is based in Taunton.
