Avon and Somerset Police (ASP) is seeking to deploy Windows 10 across both new laptops and existing desktops as part of a new £2.6m software licensing contract.

The force, whose headquarters are in Bristol, has announced that it awarded the three-year contract to reseller Software Box Ltd (SBL). The deal, which was awarded through Crown Commercial Service’s Technology Products 2 framework, took effect on 1 July, and runs until 30 June 2020.

The contract will see York-based SBL providing the necessary licences and related services for ASP’s server estate. The company will also work on the force’s “digital mobilisation programme”, as well as overseeing an upcoming client-computing migration.

The contract award notice said: “A key requirement is to provide licensing that supports the rollout of Windows 10 laptops and upgrade – where possible – the existing desktop estate.”
