The Department for Work and Pensions has launched the hunt for a supplier to handle its document management services.

The department has published a tender for a contract worth up to £80m which will involve the processing of up to 100,000 mail items each day.
DWP’s tender issue is part of its 2020 Vision strategy, which is aimed at transforming services while reducing paper processes.

“DWP will be looking for a service which will have the capacity and capability to interface with multiple systems to deliver a solution for their complex and diverse organisation,” the tender said.
The contract is intended to cover secure mail opening, document scanning, indexing, valuables handling and multi format inbound channel service, the government said.
It will be awarded for an initial period of five years, with an option to extend for two 12-month periods.
The DWP said it reserves the right to use an e-auction as part of the procurement, which is expected to result in the appointment of a single primary supplier, and will not be divided into lots for separate services.
Tender bids must be received by the end of February.
