TechUK appoints board to steer collaboration with local public services

Dominic Campbell, founder of FutureGov, is to chair a local public services board to improve engagement between local government and the tech industry.

Industry representative body TechUK established the board last month, after holding an election for the members earlier this year.

It announced the board’s membership – who represent four large, four medium and four small TechUK members – on 2 June.

TechUK said that the aim of the board was to provide leadership on policy issues related to public service transformation and promote technology use by local government.

In addition to Campbell as chairman, the board has two vice-chairs: Carlos Oliveira, chief executive and founder of Shaping Cloud and Catherine Doyle, director of government at EMC.

Other members include Brian Mitchell, relationship manager at Virgin, Sue Holloway, an operations director at Northgate Public Services and Tracey Woolley, a senior account manager at Pure Storage.

The board forms part of TechUK’s local government programme, which aims to take advantage of the drive for digitisation in local government and help its members collaborate better with councils and local authorities.

“We now have the industry leadership in place to drive techUK’s new local government programme,” TechUK’s associate director of public sector work Naureen Khan said in a statement.

“Our focus will now be on how the tech sector can help local authorities deliver transformation of services.”
