Hampshire County Council has worked on the development of new software allowing social workers to access details from other services.

The One Social care solution has been developed with supplier Capita One, aimed at making it easier for social care teams to find information on children and adults in need.

The software aims to give a holistic view by allowing secure access to information on family connections, school attendance and notes from different teams.

Steve Crocker, deputy director of children and families at Hampshire County Council, said: “Designed to free up more time for practitioners to spend with children and families, the system will help provide greater clarity of a family’s situation and put teams in a much stronger position to be able to ‘de-escalate’ issues, before it becomes necessary to put more costly interventions in place.”

If a worker from one service records a change of address on the system, all staff with access will be able to view the information instantly.

Social workers can also be alerted automatically if a child’s school attendance begins to slip, or they are excluded.

It also provides integrated finance management for clients and local authority teams

The software can be used in the office or on mobile devices when workers are in the field, synching with a central database when connected online, according to Capita One.

The solution was showcased this week at the National Children and Adult Services Conference 2015 in Bournemouth.
