Chorley deal to enable mobile working for staff

Managed services and hybrid cloud supplier ANS has won a managed infrastructure service contract which will enable mobile working for all staff with Chorley Borough Council.

The firm will upgrade the authority’s servers using a Cisco UCS architecture and provide ongoing management of ICT infrastructure.

Both parties say that the deal will allow all 300 staff to work remotely and increase the range of online services offered to residents.

Asim Khan, head of customer & ICT services at the council, said: “The new system will provide additional capacity which means that the council will be in a position to achieve a shared infrastructure if appropriate.”

The deal is also aimed at improving the council’s disaster recovery capability, he said.

Paul Shannon, managing director of managed services at ANS, said: “There’s a continued drive from public sector bodies to make more of their services available online.

“In order to ensure the quality of these services, councils’ IT infrastructure needs to be in a robust state.”

He said that by appointing his company, the council would free up its staff to focus on developing services for staff and residents.

Founded in 1996, ANS Group is a fast-growing Managed and Hybrid Cloud Service Provider with offices in Manchester and London.
