Department launches hunt for candidates who can ‘turn complex cyber risks into clear, actionable strategies that keep services safe and resilient’ to spearhead the development of its ‘vulnerability management strategy’
The Department for Work and Pensions has launched a recruitment drive to find a lead cybersecurity vulnerability manager, with a salary of up to £89,995 on offer to the successful candidate.
According to the department, the manager will lead the development and implementation of its “vulnerability-management strategy”, including people, processes and technology elements.
The civil service Grade 6 role also involves leading on the development of mitigation strategies to reduce the DWP’s exposure to the risks presented by “unaddressed security vulnerabilities”.
The successful applicant will have a team of analysts and be tasked with using their expert knowledge to “lead and inform” the investigation of cybersecurity risks and agree remediation and prioritisation actions across multiple digital functions.

In its advertisement for the role, DWP said it is looking for someone who can “turn complex cyber risks into clear, actionable strategies that keep services safe and resilient”.
DWP’s person specification for the role includes “demonstrable experience of working on complex IT infrastructures and across a multi-domain model, with specific experience working in a vulnerability management role as part of a cybersecurity capability”.
Desirable qualifications outlined in the advertisement list certified information systems security manager and certified information security manager, or MSc information security.
The salary range for the role is given as £75,026-£89,995. DWP said the job could be based in Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne or Sheffield.
