Seven years after joining government, former Companies House and culture department leader starts work at Whitehall’s central organisation with a remit to deliver ‘extended and improved digital and data services’

A new digital chief has this week begun work at the Cabinet Office.

Ross Maude arrives at Whitehall’s central department in the post of chief digital and information officer, having previously held the same post at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Prior to this three-year stint at the culture department, Maude spent almost four years at Companies House, in the role of director of digital, data and technology.

Before joining the civil service, the new Cabinet Office digital chief held senior roles at commercial firms including Oracle and Airbus, and also spent four years at Cardiff Council.
