Government’s department for overseeing the local authority sector is recruiting a new digital chief to support delivery of services for councils covering areas such as resettlement programmes and grant awards
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is seeking to appoint a technology leader to oversee the delivery of digital services to be used by local authorities around the country.
The ministry’s Digital Directorate has a particular “focus on building and running re-useable services that can be used to drive efficiencies throughout the department and in local government”, according to a job advert for a vacant role as deputy director, digital services.
Key offerings under the watch of the new digital chief include MHCLG’s Data Collection as a Service for councils, and its Funding Service “which aims to produce a series of tools and services to improve funding across the department”.
Other responsibilities of the postholder will include “overseeing the digital cross-cutting workstream for resettlement services, ensuring critical data continues to flow between central and local government to guarantee the safety of those under the scheme”.

The leader will also be tasked with “drawing together these workstreams and related workstreams across the department to reduce duplication and maximise benefits”.
The chosen applicant will directly manage seven people within the Digital Directorate – which sits within the ministry’s chief finance officer group. Across the breadth of the department, they will also be expected to operate as a “digital advocate”.
The advert describes the person sought by MHCLG: “You will have a strong understanding of the Government Service Standard and how to run and deliver good services with a mix of civil servants and third parties. You’ll use this experience and your excellent stakeholder skills to build credibility with partners, ministers, and other areas of the department. Although your strategic insight and ability to challenge are key, it is also critical that you have service leadership mindset. We believe the best decisions are made by empowered service owners and product managers, supported by multidisciplinary teams.”
Applications for the position are open until 11.55pm on 1 September. Candidates are asked to submit a CV and a “statement of suitability” of up to two pages in length.
Gill Stewart, MHCLG chief digital officer and the role’s hiring manager, “would be happy to have informal discussions with candidates who would like further information about the role before submitting an application”, according to the job ad.
Thanks for your write-up on this blog site. From my own experience, occasionally softening up a photograph might provide the photography with a chunk of an artistic flare. Often times however, the soft blur isn’t just what you had at heart and can often times spoil an otherwise good photo, especially if you consider enlarging them.
I’ve learned newer and more effective things through the blog post. Yet another thing to I have seen is that in most cases, FSBO sellers will reject you. Remember, they would prefer to not use your expert services. But if you actually maintain a steady, professional relationship, offering assistance and remaining in contact for four to five weeks, you will usually manage to win an interview. From there, a listing follows. Thanks a lot
