Mastek swipes one-year contract

HM Revenue and Customs has awarded a near-£10m deal for a supplier to support its digital services delivered at the border.
The department’s Customs, Borders and International (CB&I) unit oversees the operation of more than 100 services. Chief among these is the Customs Declaration Service (CDS), the new IT system for managing the expected post-Brexit annual tally of about 250 million declarations.
HMRC has signed a deal with Mastek through which the digital services specialist will provide support for “all CB&I live services, as is required”.

This will include “live service technical support for existing CDS live services [as they] increase in size, as well as “commensurate live service increase provisioning for the period required [for] other CB&I live services”.
The contract came into effect on 4 March and runs for exactly one year; its estimated worth over that timeframe is £8m to £9.8m.
The deal follows a £1.63m contract awarded to Mastek in August to provide support for the CDS service. This engagement came to an end on 28 February.
In addition to its work with HMRC, Mumbai-headquartered tech consultancy Mastek has previously won several multimillion-pound contracts with the Home Office and various NHS entities.
