Greenwich offers £100k for digital leader to drive ‘ambitious programme of transformation’

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is offering a salary in excess of £100,000 a year in its bid to recruit a digital leader to spearhead the council’s transformation agenda.

The south-east London borough is advertising a vacant position as assistant director for digital and access. The chosen candidate will be tasked with setting digital plans and overseeing their implementation.

The role also comes with a remit to promote the use of digital platforms and IT throughout the council, and manage a mix of in-house and outsourced tech operations.

All of this work should support Greenwich’s ambition to “deliver high-performing, value for money ICT and digital services”.

“You will play a critical role in shaping our digital strategies and supporting us through an ambitious programme of transformation – scaling up our ambition and appetite for innovation,” the council added.

Greenwich is seeking applicants that have “significant experience of leading an ICT function through major change as a member of senior management”. Candidates must also cite examples of when they “have delivered measurable business outcomes through digital strategies and… be able to point to a strong track record of innovation and improvement”.

Applications for the post are open until 4 October, after which a long list will be drawn up. This will be followed by preliminary interviews, then the creation of a shortlist and, finally, panel interviews during the two-week period commencing on 28 October.
