Warwickshire County Council is seeking a chief transformation and digital officer to deliver savings by revamping the authority’s business processes and service delivery.

The council currently employs a contractor to lead its transformation efforts. With this person moving on shortly, Warwickshire wishes to bring in a permanent leader on a two-year contract.

“It is recognised that the next 24 months is a critical period in terms of delivery of our transformation programme,” it added.

The council has already begun a transformation programme of “complexity and ambition”, it said. The new digital and transformation leader will be asked to “maintain dedicated capacity at this level, enabling senior leaders to continue to focus on delivering and embedding our new target operating model”.

Warwickshire said: “The role of chief transformation and digital officer will focus on transforming our business processes, implementing customer focused digital solutions and improving our customer experience. Of equal importance will be their role in enabling our cultural transition to become a high performing organisation and to deliver the priorities of Our People Plan.”

The successful applicant will be responsible to leading “all transformation-related activities across the council”, and will be expected to deliver cash savings immediately and on an ongoing basis.

Applications for the post are open until 16 August. A series of interviews will conclude with a member panel interview during the week commencing 23 September. The position is expected to come with a salary of £100,000 or more.

The council’s chief executive Monica Fogarty said: “The role will focus on releasing savings from our digital and technology strategy, our people strategy and through better use of business intelligence and predictive analytics. You will work across the whole council, leading on engagement with key sponsors as a coach and advisor on all transformation matters to ensure digital capabilities are fully integrated. The role offers the opportunity to do things differently and push traditional boundaries.”

She added: “We are looking for someone who can blend strategy with execution. Someone who can bring new skills which complement those we already have, and can add value to the journey we have started.”
