Organisations providing elementary digital skills training have two weeks to bid for a slice of £300,000 government funding.
The money will be awarded as part of the Future Digital Inclusion programme that has been run by the Department for Education since 2014. The scheme has provided digital-skills training and support to more than a million people to date, according to the Good Things Foundation – the social change charity that will administer the latest tranche of funding.

The money will be handed out via the charity’s Online Centres Network, which brings together more than 5,000 community organisations that promote digital inclusion at a “hyper-local” level.
Members of the network have until 8 March to apply for a chunk of the £300,000 funding.
Founded in 2011 and based in Sheffield, the Good Things Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to helping “socially excluded people to improve their lives through digital”. In addition to running the Online Centres Network, the foundation runs Learn My Way, a website offering free online courses, as well as English My Way, which supports tutors in helping adults with limited English-language skills.
