Vacant role advertised for senior manager to oversee compute hardware

Parliament is offering a salary of up to £75,000 for a senior manager to oversee the computing infrastructure elements of “number of high-profile construction programmes”.
The House of Commons is advertising a vacant post as technology lead (building infrastructure). The chosen candidate will be tasked with providing tech input into wider programmes of building work. Their key role will be to help “design, procure and commission new building infrastructure such as networking and datacentre services”.

The successful applicant will be also be “expected to “work closely with colleagues in the Digital Service, Strategic Estates and more widely within Parliament”.
The House of Commons is seeking candidates with experience of commissioning IT infrastructure in new buildings, and of designing and relocating datacentres.
The infrastructure lead will be hired on an initial 12-month contract “with the possibility of extension and/or permanency”.
At some point in the next decade, the Palace of Westminster will begin a six-year programme of building renovations which will cost up to £4bn. While work is ongoing, MPs and Lords will be based at another location – expected to be Richmond House in nearby Whitehall, which was formerly the home of the Department of Health and Social Care.
