Department hiring for senior development role

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is seeking a head of DevOps “to lead work on developing the department’s new IT desktop and cloud-based platform”.
The post comes with a pay packet of up to £70,394. The successful candidate will be required to oversee a project to lead a programme of change in BEIS’s cloud computing and desktop strategy. They will also be expected to help create and promote IT standards.
The department is also seeking someone to “oversee a range of IT projects that deliver new and improved ICT [and] cloud-based services”.
It added: “These projects include the development of SharePoint systems and processes.”

BEIS is looking for someone who has experience of “working in a multi-site delivery organisation with a complex and challenging IT environment”. The successful candidate must also have experience of leading software and hardware development strategy from a senior position.
Applicants must also possess “an ability to build consensus between diverse and often conflicting interests, to achieve agreement on technical plans”.
Applications are open until 16 March. The department will work to sift candidates down to a shortlist during the week commencing 19 March. Interviews will take place at some point thereafter.
