An evening with the editors – experts debate politics, public sector pay, and party conferences

Watch extracts from Dods event bringing together a range of Westminster and Whitehall commentators

As debate around the public sector pay cap continues to intensify, senior journalists from an array of PublicTechnology’s sister publications have offered their take on the impact of government austerity policy.

This week our parent company Dods hosted ‘An evening with the editors’, gathering together the editors of PoliticsHome, the Parliament Magazine, Holyrood Magazine, Public Affairs News, Total Politics, The House and Civil Service World, who joined forces to discuss the latest political thinking from London, Brussels, and Edinburgh.

During the event, Suzannah Brecknell, acting editor of Civil Service World, talked about the impact of the government’s move to change public sector pay, as well as discussing the affect Brexit may have on civil service staffing and contracting. Watch an extract here.

Elsewhere, Brian Johnson, editor of the Parliament Magazine, gave the inside track on the EU’s perception of the UK’s approach – or lack of – to ‘deal making’, while Mandy Rhodes, editor of Holyrood Magazine, talked about the Scottish stance on Brexit, including the possible formation of a cross party group to influence UK legislation.

There was also a party Conference preview, with David Singleton, editor of Total Politics and Public Affairs News, giving his thoughts on the likely winners and losers from the Labour Party Conference.

You can also see Kevin Schofield, editor of PoliticsHome, and Dan Bond, editor of the House magazine, predict which contestants will form best in the potential beauty parade at the Conservative Party Conference.
