Five police forces in the east Midlands are turning to the technology of a local SME to help transform their forensic investigations.
The Forensic Services branch of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit – a collective of the police forces of Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, and Northamptonshire – recently launched a tender seeking a technology partner to help it “transform the delivery of forensic services” across the region.

The unit has issued a contract award notice revealing that InJenuity Limited has been awarded the contract to deliver IT consultancy and development services. The deal is worth £210,000, excluding VAT.
InJenuity is tasked with creating and delivering services that will help the five forces revamp the way they work, from “from front-line CSIs (crime scene investigators) to Central Services”, the award notice said.
The company must also bear in mind the “high-level aim [of] delivering cashable and efficiency savings, whilst focusing on the provision of a broad range of specialist agile capabilities, meeting the vision laid out in the 2025 Policing Plan”.
Based in the neighbouring county of Cambridgeshire, InJenuity was founded in 2005 and specialises in technology and services for police forensic departments. Its products include the iExamine range of mobile technology for CSIs, and the Tracknet platform for tracking evidence samples. The firm claims to work with more than 20 police forces throughout the UK.
