DWP offering up to £100,000 salary for enterprise data architect

Selected candidate will work for BPDTS, the government-owned IT company that serves DWP

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is offering up to £100,000-a-year for an enterprise data architect.

According to the job ad, the architect will work for Benefits Pension Digital and Technology Services (BPDTS), a government-owned IT company which only serves DWP Digital, part of the DWP.

DWP Digital supports 84,000 colleagues across what it calls one of Europe’s biggest IT estates, and the department suggested that the architect would join an integrated community of experts and have the opportunity to improve public services that almost every UK citizen uses at some point in their lives.

The department wants an enterprise architect that has a credible record of designing for external data ingestion, real-time data analytics, domain-driven master data model, event-driven enterprise data-sharing, authoritative data sources and an external API exchange.

They must have a high level of machine learning understanding and have evidence of creating value using large, diverse data volumes – perhaps by using tools such as Hadoop, Spark or Tableau.

In addition it wants a candidate who “possesses an insane desire and capacity to quickly absorb new concepts and technologies” and that is “willing to roll up their sleeves periodically to co-create solutions hands-on through modern data science and general programming languages”.

He or she must be comfortable working in a cross-functional team that includes UX, analysts, statisticians, engineers, product owners, among others.

A pre-requisite for the role is having a four-year degree in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, maths, artificial intelligence, machine learning, applied statistics or physics.

Unsurprisingly, the candidate will need excellent technical and analytics skills, and significant experience in design and implementation.

The London-based role is worth £100,000-a-year for the right person in addition to discretionary bonus and pension.

The closing date for applications is 10th July 2017. You can apply via LinkedIn here: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/317352048/
