Manchester councils plan North West public sector jobs portal

Councils in Manchester have announced plans to create a new recruitment website which could cover all public sector jobs in the North West, linked to human resources software.

The Association of Greater Manchester Authorities has launched a tender for a supplier or suppliers to provide a careers website plus a connected applicant tracking system.

The new site will replace the existing collaborative jobs board and recruitment back office system which currently hosts more than 10,000 job adverts a year.

The tender for the new services said: “The original key drivers for the implementation of a collaborative e-recruitment solution were to harmonise and standardise recruitment and selection activity across AGMA, to offer a one-stop shop for AGMA vacancies and a standardised application process, and the reduction of advertising costs.

“On building and developing on original objectives the new e-recruitment solution must meet a number of new key requirements and opportunities including flexibility and capacity to support the extension of a recruitment service to strategic partner organisations, accessibility of both the website and back office via mobile platforms, and the capacity to generate revenue.”

The site will initially host jobs from the 10 AGMA councils, with an ambition to extend it to all other public sector jobs in the north west of England.

It is envisaged that the contract will run for an initial period of four years, and tenders must be received by 18 May.
