Fife Council and NHS Fife are to integrate health and social care records for adult services, after signing a deal with a healthcare software vendor.
The local authority and healthcare organisation will implement an integrated health and social care solution covering adult services such as social work and housing services in Fife. NHS Fife and Fife Council serve a population of over 360,000.
The implementation has been prompted by the Scottish Government’s new requirement that every health board and local authority in Scotland must integrate its health and care service.
“We will be working with NHS Fife and Fife Council to enable an integrated health and social care record for adult services, following a successful pilot programme,” Orion Health CEO Ian McCrae. Orion now provides services to five general health boards and one specialist health board in the country.
William Edwards, General Manager eHealth and IMT, NHS Fife said that the success of the pilot programme now meant that it would now proceed to a full roll-out phase.
“The solution will help enable us to deliver better, coordinated care to the entire Fife community,” he said.
