The senior civil servant charged with spearheading better use of public sector data has left the Scottish Government.
Jane Morgan, who became the joint second most senior official in her role as deputy director within the government’s digital directorate, left just before Christmas.
Morgan headed up the connectivity, economy and data division after joining the directorate almost four years ago.

She had been responsible for digital public services until a change in structure last February.
The Scottish Government’s director of digital Mike Neilson said: “Jane has been with this directorate more or less since the beginning and has played a key role in shaping what we do, particularly in relation to digital public services and data. I hope to be able to announce her replacement shortly.”
Head of broadband policy, Trudy Nicolson, is overseeing the division in the interim, while chief information officer Anne Moises is looking after the data and geographic data analysis functions.
Morgan joined the Scottish Government in 1981 after completing a PhD and working as a university lecturer.
She had been a senior civil servant for two decades and responsible for issues including energy policy, enterprise strategy, innovation and childcare.
