Initial returns show another rise in local government G-Cloud sales during September – up 8.6% on the previous month.
Purchases in the local authority category of the framework – including councils, housing associations and other local government bodies – totalled £1.90m, up from £1.75m in August.
The latter figure has been revised upwards to £1.88m in this month’s figures, after returns submitted late were added into the total.
The rise in sales during September is the second in a row following three months of falls between April and July which saw local government sales plummet by 46%
There were 232 purchases made by local government bodies during the month, with Bristol City Council making the largest number of purchases at 40.
The largest G-Cloud purchase by a council during the month was £140,000 paid by to Peterborough City Council to Arcus Global for specialist cloud services.
Across all public bodies, spending through G-Cloud was £44m, meaning local government contributed just 4.3% of the total.
50% of total sales by value and 60% by volume, from all reported G-Cloud sales to date, have been awarded to small and medium sized enterprises.
The Digital Marketplace team is expecting the seventh iteration of the G-Cloud framework to go live on 23 November.
