Wandsworth and Richmond choose Capita for financial management services

Two London boroughs have appointed Capita Local Government for a contract to provide joint financial management services.

If the appointment is confirmed, the firm will look after accounts payable and receivable processes and embed its finance software system, Integra, into finance departments at London boroughs of Wandsworth and Richmond.

The proposed contract would run for six years with an option to extend four years. Capita and the councils have not revealed the cost of the deal, nor the estimated savings they say will result.

Chris Buss, director of finance at the London Borough of Wandsworth, said: “In controlling our finances we have two key policies: to share with other councils and to secure for our residents the service provider who best offers a combination of quality and price. This is what we have achieved.”

The contract also establishes a pan-London framework allowing all councils in the capital to procure finance and print services, and finance systems, from Capita.

According to an announcement by Capita, the framework would enable other councils to use the Wandsworth and Richmond managed service solution, or a tailored version for their specific needs.
