G-Cloud 6 suppliers have been given another six months to sell to government.
The Government Digital Service announced yesterday that the sixth iteration of the framework will be extended until 1 August. It had originally been due to come to an end yesterday.
The move has been made in order to give officials more time to work on preparing for G-Cloud 8 which had been due to launch early this year. However, it is unclear when the new version of the framework will now be ready.
In a blog statement, GDS said: “We’ve extended G6 for six months so that users can continue to buy and sell from both G6 and G-Cloud 7 while we’re working on the next iteration of G-Cloud.
“We’ll notify all G-Cloud suppliers by email when we have more information about G-Cloud 8.”

G-Cloud 7 went live on the Digital Marketplace in November.
Officials have yet to produce its latest monthly figures for spending through the G-Cloud framework, which were due for publication at the end of January.
Figures released at the end of December showed that, during November, purchases by local government through G-Cloud were down to £1.45m, a 20.9% month-on-month drop.
