Digital Marketplace launch date confirmed

The government will turn off the CloudStore procurement platform at the end of this month, with all new G-Cloud purchases transferring to the Digital Marketplace.

The new platform will unify the purchasing of all digital services across government, and has been redesigned to cope with an expected rise in traffic and data.

Both the new Digital Marketplace and previous CloudStore have run in parallel during September before CloudStore is turned off at the end of the month.

A statement from the Government Digital Service said: “At the end of the month, Digital Marketplace will be the place to buy G-Cloud services. This means that we will be switching off CloudStore.”

Services and products provided through the Digital Services framework will move onto the platform early next year, the statement said.

Earlier this year, GDS said that the new platform would be expected to solve some of the problems with the CloudStore’s search function

The sixth iteration of the G-Cloud framework is expected to open to submissions in October, GDS added.

GDS and the Crown Commercial Service are planning a series of free regional events to explain the new Digital Marketplace to public sector buyers.

The first event will be held in Manchester on 22 September, with another in Newcastle on 9 October.

A date in London is also being arranged and will be announced shortly.
