West Northamptonshire Council was established in 2021 as a unitary authority, serving a local population of more than 400,000 residents. The new body replaced previous district and borough councils serving the areas of Daventry, South Northamptonshire, and Northampton – the town where the single-tier entity is now headquartered. WNC also took on duties formerly fulfilled by the now-defunct Northamptonshire County Council.
