Leader will spearhead team dedicated to ‘design, detection and protection’

The Government Digital Service is recruiting for a senior executive to lead a team dedicated to protecting the new One Login system from fraud, as well as a manager to oversee the operation of the live service.

The incoming head of the Threat Intelligence and Counter-Fraud team will manage a unit with that, via a mix of “design, detection and protection” work, will deliver “four critical missions” in support of the creation of government’s new digital identity platform, according to the job advert.

This will include helping to ensure that the service is designed with “fraud in mind”, while protecting the overall delivery of the programme “through accurate and timely intelligence”. The anti-fraud team also has a remit to “detect fraud through analysis” and “enable cross-government collaboration on tackling fraud”.

The successful candidate will take on a post that enables them to “play a central role in protecting the UK’s current and future digital identity ecosystem”, the advert said.

“At scale, One Login will be the front door for millions of users to access digital public services,” it added. “Our ability to remain resilient to fraud is absolutely critical to delivering our mission. Fraud reduction is intrinsic to the overall value proposition for One Login and at the heart of retaining user trust. This is a high-profile role, suited to an experienced counter fraud professional who has a track record of setting direction on threat intelligence and counter fraud and building wider capability.”

Also open for recruitment is a post as “head of live service, [who] will have oversight for the day to day running of digital identity live services alongside setting direction on the implementation of One Login’s live service target operating model”.

The role comes with a remit to “coordinate effective business continuity plans for the live services, undertaking scenario planning and collaborating with others to develop robust plans… [including] disaster recovery planning, ensuring recovery plan is in constant working order with documentation and run books for each service in place and up to date”.

Applications for the position are open until 11.55pm on 19th February. Each role comes with an annual salary of £61,710 and the chosen applicants will be based at one of GDS’s locations in Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, York, or Glasgow.
