Company has run the MoD and Armed Forces Joint Server Farm since 2009
Rackspace has won a one-year £4m extension to its long-term deal to host online services for the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces from a single secure location.
The hosting firm first won a contract to deliver the Joint Server Farm platform back in 2009. Since then, Rackspace has won a number of extensions to continue providing the environment, which houses online services and websites from the MoD, as well as the Army, Navy, and RAF. The Defence Gateway Service hosted on the Joint Server Farm enables staff from the MoD and the Armed Forces to sign in from a single location to access services including Armynet, ACMS, and SharePoint.

Documents newly published on the government’s Contracts Finder tool reveal that Rackspace has won another one-year deal to host these services . The contract – which is worth £4m – was awarded on 26 June and came into effect on 1 July. It is scheduled to run for a year.
Searches of Contracts Finder records indicate that the last time the Joint Server Farm was retendered by the MoD was in 2016, when Rackspace won an initial one-year contract worth £1.6m.
