GDS offers £87k for four new head of product roles

Newly created leadership posts will cover responsibility for individual products or portfolios

The Government Digital Service has created four new leadership roles for individuals to head up specific product areas.

The quartet of head of product roles come with a salary of up to £87,000, and each will report to GDS’s deputy director of product and proposition. The jobs will each cover a particular GDS product or portfolio of products,

“You will define the product strategy, set and own key performance indicators which measure its success, and be accountable for the product,” GDS said. “You will maintain the high-level roadmap and determine which products and enhancements are developed through discovery, alpha, beta, and live phases of an ongoing development lifecycle.”

Other duties of the roles will be promoting and representing GDS products at events, as well as through blogs and social media.

Working underneath each of the four product heads will be team of product managers, as well a wider multidisciplinary network of researchers, designers, and engineers.

The four jobs will all be based at GDS headquarters in London’s Whitechapel district. Applications are open until 26 June, with interviews likely to take place during the week commencing 9 July. The successful candidates will be hired on an initial two-year contract.

GDS’s core products included the GOV.UK Verify identity-assurance platform, the Notify messaging tool, and the Pay platform for processing transactions.
